Exciting Yorkshire Road Trip Planned for Spring and Summer 2026

Yorkshire Road Trip Timing

Project complete — cue the victory dance! 🕺 With that finally wrapped up, I was all set to hit the road and start exploring beautiful Yorkshire this year. Sadly, January had other ideas. Instead of scenic views, I’ve been greeted by grey skies, soggy shoes, and weather that makes even ducks question their life choices.

So, rather than filming in a gale while pretending I’m having fun, I’ve decided to practise a little patience and wait for a warmer welcome from Mother Nature. As a result, the Yorkshire road trip is officially rolling into April, May, and June 2026 — when the sun (hopefully) remembers it lives in the UK and my camera won’t need a raincoat.

Good things come to those who wait… especially when those good things involve countryside views, proper cuppas, and fewer wind-induced hairstyles! 😄🚗☀️

While We Wait…

In the meantime, however, I won’t be hibernating like a Yorkshire hedgehog. Instead, I’ll be popping into a few brilliant indoor spots such as the National Railway Museum, the Royal Armouries, and similar gems — because even I can’t outrun British weather (and I’ve tried).

Index

I’ll be snapping a few photos, soaking up the history, and sharing some insight on this website under the Attractions menu. Think swords, steam trains, and plenty of “ooh, that’s interesting” moments — all without needing waterproof socks. Result! 😄📸🚂

About the Road Trip

To be honest, calling it a road trip is a bit of a fib — it’s more like a road trip with commitment issues, because it’s actually split into nine glorious sections (even my sat nav needed a cup of tea after that). These include Airdale, Harrogate & the Dales, York and the Moors, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, the Yorkshire Coast, the Howardian Hills, Herriot and Cleveland, plus East Riding and the Wolds.

So really, it’s less “quick weekend getaway” and more “epic Yorkshire box set” — nine seasons, plenty of scenery, and hopefully fewer cliff-hangers than Netflix. 😄🚗

The Photo or Video Issue

There is, however, a small snag afoot (cue dramatic music 🎵). I’ve been having an internal debate about whether to shoot full-on video or stick mainly to stills. I’ve also made a noble vow to avoid all things Meta and Google and keep everything safely under my own control on this website. Sounds heroic, right?

Uploading Issues

Well… enter stage left: my web host, Ionos, who politely but firmly says, “No files over 64MB, please.” Which is about as helpful for video as a chocolate teapot.

So, while Hollywood-length documentaries are off the table, I can upload short videos of each location — around 3–4 minutes long. Honestly, that’s probably perfect anyway. Let’s face it, most of us prefer a quick scenic highlight reel rather than a feature-length director’s cut (with bonus footage of me tying my shoelaces).

Each Destination with Its Own Page

The rest of each page will be beautifully dressed up with photos — ideally taken in good weather, assuming Yorkshire gets the memo. Think short videos, plenty of pictures, and just enough charm to keep things interesting. Result! 📸🚗☀️

Absolutely NO ADS

Most website owners choose to monetise their content with ads. But honestly… who actually enjoys being bombarded with adverts every five seconds? I know I don’t. One minute you’re reading something interesting, the next you’re being chased around the internet by a pair of socks you glanced at three days ago.

Ads also ruin the flow of a website, and pop-ups? Absolute party poopers. Who wants pop-ups? Me neither — unless it’s popcorn.

So, I’ve taken the peaceful route. No ads. No annoying interruptions. Just lovely, uninterrupted content. Instead, I’ve added a simple donate button for anyone who’s able (and willing) to support the project. Think of it as buying me a virtual cuppa — entirely optional, but always appreciated. 😄☕
